About the Event
Can we grow the future of construction from the ground up? Read More...This inspiring talk explores the potential of UK-grown hemp to transform how we build — replacing carbon-intensive materials like concrete and steel with breathable, biobased alternatives that store carbon and support human health. Architect Timothy Tasker will share a vision for low-impact, high-performance design using hempcrete and timber: natural materials that regulate humidity, improve air quality, and offer long-term comfort and durability.
From the farming side, Paul Totterdell of Cotswold Seeds explains how industrial hemp fits into regenerative agriculture — restoring soils, capturing carbon, and offering farmers a viable role in the transition to climate-conscious construction.
The session will spotlight the new hemp building currently under construction at FarmED in the Cotswolds — a pioneering model of how locally sourced, low-carbon materials can be used to create beautiful, healthy spaces.
Join us to explore how farming and architecture can come together to grow a healthier built environment — from field to frame.
Please arrive at 11:45 am. The talk will start at midday, and lunch will be served at 1:00pm.
After the talk, you will get a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch from the FarmED Cafe where you will be able to network with other guests.
