About the Event
Did you know that 61 farms in the Evenlode valley are launching a groundbreaking Landscape Recovery project? See some fascinating aerial photography and hear about the plan to create and restore over 3,500 hectares of interconnected habitat. Read More...Those of us who live and work in the Cotswolds know that the reality of flooding, soil erosion and poor water quality has become a problem that we can’t ignore. Not least the farmers working here. Realising more could be done when working together, the North East Cotswold Farmer Cluster was born 4 years ago. This is now a group of over 150 like-minded farmers working and learning together to enhance the natural capital on their land, tackle the climate emergency and build more resilient food and farming businesses.
Enjoy a delicious lunch of local produce after an introduction by Tim Field and Caroline Greenwood to the Cluster’s flagship project, Evenlode Landscape Recovery. This groundbreaking farmer-led project will be for a minimum of 20-years across 61 landholdings in the Evenlode valley. It will restore streams and rivers, protect threatened native species, improve natural habitats and adapt to climate change while continuing productive farming and create new revenue streams for farmers.
The Cluster has built up an amazing bank of aerial drone footage of the river channels and floodplain features during the project's 2023-2024 planning and development phase. Seeing the Evenlode from this perspective truly highlights that nature recovery requires landscape scale design and systems thinking. Caroline focuses on stakeholder engagement for this project and she hopes you will be inspired to share ideas, suggestions and questions on how to make the Evenlode Landscape Recovery vision a truly collective effort by both farmers and their local communities.
After the talk, you will get a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch from the FarmED Cafe where you will be able to network with other guests.
Please arrive at 11:45am. The talk will start at midday, and lunch will be served at 1:00pm.
