About the Event

What is agroforestry? Simply put, its a term that describes a number of practices that bring trees and farming systems together.

To celebrate the national Agroforestry Open Weekend 2022, FarmED is joining farms across the country and is opening the farm gate to share our passion for agroforestry and to showcase the recent trees we've planted this past winter.

Join us for an afternoon introduction to agroforestry from FarmED's Agroforestry Advisor Edd Colbert followed by a tour of FarmED's 'Living Textbook of Agroforestry'.

This series of demonstration agroforestry systems includes:

  • Silvopastoral & Silvoarable coppice alley cropping in the 8 year arable rotation with mob-grazed sheep and cows
  • Silvohorticulture alley cropping in the market garden with over 200 fruit trees
  • Optimised Shelterbelts
  • Heritage Orchard undergrazed by sheep
  • 8 acres farm woodland
  • Hedges
  • ...and plenty more planned for the future!

This event is FREE but spaces are limited so please book early.

Tickets include access to the event only and do not cover refreshments. Please arrive early if you wish to buy lunch, hot drinks or a snack in the FarmEAT cafe before the walk starts. All profits from the cafe support the delivery of our mission at FarmED.

You can find out more about the Agroforestry Open Weekend here. We've planned our open day for the Friday which gives you plenty of time to visit some of the other brilliant agroforestry farms over the weekend, including:

  • Whitehall Farm, Cambridgeshire
  • Shimpling Park Farm, Suffolk
  • Maple Farm, Suffolk
  • Fellows Farm, Suffolk
  • Wakelyns, Suffolk

You can learn more about our agroforestry systems at FarmED here.

If you're interested in learning how to design your own agroforestry system then take a look at the Agroforestry Design Masterclass at FarmED, now booking for September 2022.
