About the Event

Explore the habitats at Honeydale Farm on a biodiversity themed farm walk, led by local ecologist, Katherine Holmes.

Biodiversity is the range of species that can be found in a given area. Habitats with high biodiversity are extremely valuable resources and provide the landscape with a kind of buffer to help protect from the impact of environmental challenges such as disease and climate change.

Maintaining a range of well-managed natural habitats to support a rich biodiversity within a farm will provide both ecological and economic benefit.

In addition to encouraging wildlife that has suffered declines in recent years, the benefits to the farm include a good population of pollinators for crops and natural pest control.

During this walk we will discover the range of habitats Honeydale Farm has to offer wildlife and discuss how management and land-use can impact on their biodiversity.

At the end of the walk there’ll be a delicious and nutritious lunch freshly prepared in the FarmED kitchen. Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful landscape.
