About the Event
The Emergent Generation is a new ecosystem of young champions building sustainable farming and food systems that nourish people and regenerate the planet. This gathering will kick-start this new network that FarmED are helping to build. Hear from XXX, XX, XX, XX and many more. Whether you join the event for the full 3 days at FarmED, The Royal Agricultural University and a local farm, or just join us on Sunday at FarmED, you will connect with others who are turning their passion for food systems and regenerative practice into action.
About the Event
Would you like to be part of a new network of young people who are passionate about building sustainable farming and food systems that nourish people and regenerate the planet?
Do you want to find ways to work through the entire food chain to build a new system that protects and enhances our environment and communities? A system that delivers affordable healthy food and provides rewarding work for farmers and growers, big and small.
FarmED believes we must move to a diverse, regenerative and agroecological system and that a diverse range of young people are key to this future. The next generation of practitioners, influencers and leaders will spearhead the transition. Thankfully this has begun, driven by individuals and organisations with vision, passion, commitment and knowledge. But, sometimes, the scale and complexity of the challenge can feel frustrating and overwhelming and it’s hard to know where to focus energy.
If any of the above resonates, this event could be for you…….
Supported by WWFs Land, Food and Farming Fund, FarmED is creating the space for connection so that we can better support you and your peers turn passion for change into action.
In April 2022 we invited a group of 22 young people to design this event so that it is relevant, and enables young people to make change in ways that make sense to them. Learn more about what the group said in this video HERE.Â
Out of this came the early stages of a mission and vision for building a new network called The Emergent Generation, which we will kick-start with this inaugural gathering: EmergentGeneration2022.
We may not be able to fix the food system in one weekend, but we do hope that you will:
- Gain more confidence and idea/s for how to use your passion.
- Be inspired by, and gain knowledge and skills from, experienced leaders, pioneers and other participants about regenerative practices.
- Discuss new perspectives, apply ideas to real life scenarios and design new ones.
- Have some fun around a campfire, get your hands dirty and get closer to nature!
The connections made at this event will be what makes a difference and the collective will become bigger as a result. Participants might even meet people they end up working alongside in the future, and we hope that they’ll become a driving force in this new network.
Who is this event for?
The Emergent Generation’s audience is wide and inclusive. It will champion the voices of all young people who are passionate about regenerative thinking and practice within farming and food systems.
Our ecosystem includes students and those practically involved in farming, growing, land management, conservation, advice, finance, health care, tourism, research, policy, teaching, activism, cooking and nutrition. By student, we mean everyone who is learning, they don’t need to be working towards (or have) a qualification in a specialised subject.
We hope to engage with young entrepreneurs, doctors, vets, chefs, farmers, growers, retailers, influencers, journalists, scientists, creatives, leaders and many more….
We are initially concentrating on 18 to 27 year olds for this event, but a younger audience will be engaged as we develop.
For the 3 day residential event we will welcome 50 young representatives from all four corners of rural and urban UK and further afield. On Sunday we will welcome approx. 30 - 50 day ticket holders.
We welcome participants from underrepresented backgrounds, people of colour, neuro diverse and those who might have a long-standing illness, accessibility needs, disability or infirmity (this can relate to either your physical or mental health). We understand that not everyone can afford to come to events such as these, so we can offer some subsidised tickets for those who need it most.
Ticket Costs
Development and delivery of this event is supported by WWFs Land, Food and Farming Fund.
- Attendance at the event will be subsided to make it affordable
A 3-day ticket will cost you £XXX for 2 nights accommodation, all your food and transport between venues. Accommodation
At the end of day one, course participants will be transported by coach to the Royal Agricultural University  where we will rest our weary heads for the weekend. On Sunday we will take our belongings with us back to FarmED from where you will depart at the end of the day. We’ll run a shuttle bus for those making their way by train, and for others to collect their cars. Please note that FarmED has a locked entrance overnight, so cars can be left there for the weekend.
If you require more information about this event please email becky@farm-ed.co.uk.
Your booking is safe. If we cannot run any element of the training face to face due to COVID-19 restrictions, you will be refunded, or you can switch to an alternative course/date.
