About the Event
Real Extra Virgin Olive Oil is brimming with fresh, raw polyphenols, vitamins, antioxidants and even anti-inflammatory molecules. Part of the Mediterranean diet, this traditional oil has been a dietary staple for some of the world’s healthiest populations.
This event is Led by Sarah Wolferstan, an EVOO taster and Sicilian olive farmer and oil producer.
You’ll learn how to compare and taste olive oils in order to make responsible and sustainable choices, and how the olives are grown, harvested, milled and packaged to help you choose oils with the best health benefits. It is easy to be fooled by packaging if you don't know the basics, and by the product itself if you don't know how it should taste.
Not only will you learn to taste extra virgin olive oil but also how to pair it with food. We will start by tasting oils with a clean palate then learn about pairing alongside a delicious 3-course dinner. Over dinner you’ll engage in discussion around the health benefits of extra virgin olive oil and hear the story of how olive oil production has changed over the years and the challenges it faces.
As well as all you’ve learnt, you’ll take away an information sheet on the different categories of extra virgin olive oil, top tips for buying, storing and cooking with oil, and a sensorial analysis wheel to help you continue your tasting journey at home.
