Managing Grassland for Horse Health and Biodiversity
Time & Location
About the Event
A diverse diet is crucial to the health of grazing animals – whether they be domesticated equines, farmed livestock or wild. In this one day workshop we will explore horse needs and nutrition, the health benefits of species-rich grasslands, grazing patterns and pasture management. We will look at complexity in the landscape and role of trees and hedges for shade, shelter and browse. We will consider how land managers can make space for nature maximising the positive impact that equine businesses has on landscape and biodiversity. We will cover funding opportunities for site enhancement.
The day will include guest speakers (Frances Clayton and others TBC), case studies, a farm walk at FarmED and local field visit. Tea, coffee and a delicious and nutritious lunch included.
This event is co-curated by the team at FarmED and Glorious Cotswold Grasslands.
Suitable for owners of equine businesses, farmers with livery yards, horse owners, equine management and veterinary students, advisors and vets.
