Summer Solstice

The summer solstice has always been an important celebration in the agricultural calendar, and we’re inviting you to celebrate this most magical and mystical time of year with your family and friends here at FarmED, nestled in the beautiful Evenlode Valley. You’ll enjoy an evening barbeque, family-friendly farm walk, meditation and music.

The word ‘solstice’ comes from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still) and the Summer Solstice falls when the sun reaches its farthest point from the equator, making it the longest day of the year.  In ancient times, flower crowns were traditionally worn, the fairy world was believed to be close by and people lit bonfires and danced all night to boost the sun’s strength to ensure a healthy harvest.

Many solstice traditions focus on reconnecting with nature and you’re guaranteed a magical evening, spotting the abundant wildlife on the farm on a guided walk that takes in the heritage orchard, natural flood management, meadows and kitchen garden.

We will be joined by our popular 'house' band D'Accord, who will be entertaining us during the farm-to-fork barbeque, along with local wellness coach Sarah from Brave Kind Minds. 

When booking your ticket, please specify whether you would like to join the farm walk or the meditation session. Please note, children over 12 are welcome to join the meditation session, and all children must be supervised by an adult on the farm walk. 

Arrive for 6pm for the walk/ meditation session, followed by a farm-to-fork barbeque prepared in the FarmED kitchen, drinks and music until 9pm.
