About the Event

Join FarmED's Orchard Designer Andy Howard to learn the theory, skills and practice of Winter Pruning for fruit trees such as apple and pear.

On this workshop you'll discover the different methods and techniques used to shape fruit trees, control their size and influence their productivity.

You'll also find out when and how to apply these techniques to suit different circumstances and different types of top fruit.

Importantly, we'll also discuss the differences between Winter and Summer Pruning and when and how to prune pip fruit like apples and pears and stonefruit like plums and cherries.

We'll then put these lessons to the test in the FarmED multispecies orchard, where you'll practice the theory on real fruit trees, in order to gain the skills and confidence to apply them in your own orchard, garden or community orchard.
