Winter Bird Walk

Winter might not seem like the obvious time to go out birdwatching, but there are plenty of birds making a go of it in the cold.

Though the farm may be frosty, we can hope to spot birds such as yellowhammer, skylark, corn buntings, reed bunting, fieldfare, redwing and kestrels - and we can hope for a sighting of our resident barn owl on the hunt!

Hot drinks and a slice of cake will be served from 9:30, with the walk itself beginning at 10. We will explore the farm for an hour and a half, led with expert guidance from conservationist Nick Patel, from Wilder Skies.

Please bring binoculars if you have them, as well as weather appropriate clothing and footwear.

This event is brand new for 2026 and we hope you will join us to celebrate nature at its most uplifting!

About Nick Patel

Super passionate about British wildlife, Nick has worked at several reserves as a warden, helping to improve habitats, and has trained at various RSPB reserves. He is particularly passionate about wetland habitats, wildflower meadows, grasslands and how regenerative farming can help to change perceptions about what farmers can do to make space for nature.

An experienced walk leader, eco-communicator and naturalist, Nick now works independently to educate the public on conservation matters whilst showcasing some of the most amazing wildlife the UK has to offer.

Arrivals and Timing Information

Please arrive at 9:30am for tea, coffee, cake and a short introduction from Nick and the FarmED team, before we head out on the walk at 10am.
