We’re starting to welcome visitors to FarmED, the new Centre for Farm and Food Education based at Honeydale Farm near Shipton-Under-Wychwood, and we need a special someone to join our small, friendly team to help us keep the beautiful new eco-buildings clean and in good working order.
Our mission at FarmED is to accelerate the transition towards regenerative farming and sustainable food systems by providing space and opportunity for inspirational education, innovative research, practitioner led knowledge exchange, events and personal development. We are currently working with others across the sector to achieve this mission.
Our new buildings include one for meetings and education and one for cooking and food events. We’ll have visitors and groups on site most days including farmers, local school children and policy makers.
This is your chance to be more than a visitor and get involved.
The FarmED Caretaker and Cleaner is responsible for cleaning and basic site maintenance and will also help with events and site security as needed.
The role includes:
Cleaning - maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout the FarmED buildings.
Basic Maintenance - keeping FarmED ship shape and in good working/safe order.
Basic gardening (e.g. sweeping paths, weeding, watering etc.)
Events - helping before, during and after events.
The ideal person for this role should be able to demonstrate:
Experience of cleaning in a commercial setting
Basic DIY and gardening knowledge.
Meticulous attention to detail
Flexibility – your hours of work will vary (some early mornings, evenings and weekends required).
Hours & Remuneration
We are initially looking for someone to start on a part time basis (approx.15 hours a week). Ideally, you would clean in the morning before 9am or after 5pm, and at a weekend. We hope to be fully operational by the spring of 2021 with a busy events calendar and lots of visitors. We expect the FarmED Caretaker and Cleaner role will then grow to be a full-time position.
Ideally you will be self-employed. We offer an hourly rate of £12/hour. As the role grows, we will consider a full-time employed position for the right person.
You can find more info about the role at https://www.farm-ed.co.uk/job-opportunities. Applications to be emailed to donna @farm-ed.co.uk
Closing date: 1st September 2020
