Meet Our New Food & Nutrition Coordinator

After months of searching for the right person, we’ve appointed food and nutrition expert, Alexis Sinclair, to run the FarmED Kitchen.

As Food and Nutrition Coordinator at FarmED, Alexis will be responsible for feeding our visitors with delicious, nutritious food prepared from local and regeneratively produced ingredients. She’ll also provide food education in the form of interactive workshops and nutrition seminars.

Alexis’s earliest childhood experiences gave her a love of food and nature; standing on the kitchen chair so she was tall enough to beat the mixture for cupcakes, making mud pies in her wellies in the garden...and having the great fortune to travel with her family all around the world, tasting foods and experiencing cultures.

Hours spent in the kitchen watching her mum, combined with her love for reading recipe books as if they were novels gave her a knowledge of ingredients and flavours that allowed her to experiment and develop her passion over the years.

After finding her way through university by working various jobs in hospitality, Alexis embarked on a 15 year career in student union catering management, developing and running a suite of independent cafes, delis, smoothie bars and restaurants.

Alongside this, she began her education in nutrition, quickly learning how every food a person chooses to eat can have a profound effect on their overall health and wellbeing.

Her diploma in culinary medicine has taught her that natural food contains more powerful healing properties than any other medicine, with no negative side effects. It can be self-administered, cheaply and easily, every day. And it can be done in a way that brings great pleasure, enjoyment and happiness too!

‘Being a part of the FarmED team is such a natural progression for me, completing the circle of caring for your body, to caring for the planet, all through the food you eat. Food is good for your body and it’s great for your soul. And when you look after your body, your mind and your soul, you empower yourself to be the best citizen of this planet you can be.’

‘As the Centre for Farm and Food Education, our Food and Nutrition Coordinator is a vital member of our team,’ says FarmED Founder, Ian Wilkinson. ‘The crucial link between regenerative farming and sustainable food systems is at the heart of all that we do here. We want visitors to enjoy and be inspired by their visit, through farm walks, talks and great food that’s good for us, and for the planet. Alexis has already started developing a delicious and nutritious menu and we can’t wait to share it with you.’
