Oxfordshire High Sheriff, Amanda Ponsonby, organised a visit by local Banbury MP Victoria Prentis (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) to FarmED this week to discuss soil health and regenerative agriculture, a cause very much at the heart of all we do here on the farm.
Victoria Prentis was shown the soil improving eight year rotation, the engine of which is the 17 species herbal ley.
She met young farmer Hallam Duckworth and discussed the benefits to him of mob grazing his flocks on the herbal leys and his plans to start a micro dairy.
Emma Mills from the Kitchen Garden People talked about the role of CSAs which provide affordable, farm fresh food to a very local audience.
The visit ended with a tour of the diverse orchard, the natural flood alleviation scheme and the FarmED buildings which are nearing completion.
