The Kitchen Garden People hosted a planting work party today, planting kale and hammering in steel posts for the new polytunnel as well as pinching out tomato and cucumber plants. There was plenty of space for social distancing and Dan brought his children along to help and play in the wildflowers.
Meanwhile, our heritage wheat is looking amazing. Seed was supplied by Rupert Dunn, containing forty different varieties of winter wheat. We are aiming to achieve a natural selection of wheat for the farm, using epigenetics. After harvesting, we will retain some of the wheat to be resown, while some will be milled for our pizza oven and given away locally.
