Everyone's Evenlode

In the UK, our rivers are under threat more than ever, including our local river, the Evenlode. Threats vary throughout the country from pollution from sewage outlets, poor land management, chemical spills, over-use of plastics, invasive species, and over-extraction. Join members of the Evenlode Catchment Partnership to learn more about these pressing issues, and find out how you can help improve the situation through small positive actions. 

This informal talk will start inside, covering some of the projects that the ECP are involved with, and will finish with a short walk to the stream that runs through the farm to get some hands-on water quality testing, followed by a delicious lunch from the FarmED Cafe.

About the speaker:

Rowan Wynne-Jones, Education and Community Officer for the ECP, will share her knowledge and understanding of the pressures our waterways are currently under, as well as share positive ways in which we can all make small changes that can implement a greater change. Rowan will be joined by water quality expert from EarthWatch who will give practical demonstrations of how to test water for phosphate and nitrate using very simple scientific equipment.

After the insightful talk, you will eat a delicious FarmED Cafe lunch, which is the perfect chance to ask questions to our guest speaker and chat with fellow guests about the talk.

Please arrive at 11:45 am. The talk will start at midday, and lunch will be served at 1:00 pm.
