About the Event

Who is the course for?

This three day course is aimed at farmers and land owners considering care farming as well as health, education or social care providers considering commissioning care farming services, policy makers, researchers, practicing care farmers, anyone interested in care farming or green care. 

Aims

Day 1 – 

  • To consider the skills needed to set up a care farm.
  • To think about potential health and safety concerns and ways to mitigate these issues.
  • To reflect on your own wellbeing and how you might look after yourself while supporting vulnerable clients.
  • To practice using basic listening skills and building empathy techniques.

Day 2 – 

  • To work on the ‘value proposition’ for their care farm or proposed care farm.
  • To begin work on their own ‘minimum viable product’ plan.
  • To investigate the different sources of clients and fundings available.

Day 3 – 

  • To visit two different styles of care farm (working farm and open farm) and consider the methods and approaches used and how these could be adapted for the participants own farms.

Pre – Learning 

This course builds on the topics covered in the one day ‘Introduction to Care Farming Course’. Participants who have not attended to course will receive a brief recap of the introductory course and be sent a link to a three-minute care farming overview video.

Outcomes

  • Explore their next steps in care farming through discussion and reflection
  • Gain knowledge and confidence
  • Compare two different types of care farm and explore good practice on each farm

The standard ticket price for this event is £295 inc. VAT for the three days. Lunch and refreshments are included.
