About the Event

Are you looking to diversify your farming enterprise, are you a new entrant looking for land or do you have underutilised land that needs managing? This course can help you find the right people, the right business model and an agreement that works for both parties.

In this one day course you will learn everything you need to go about starting a new joint venture, whether you're a landowner, or a new entrant looking for that all important opportunity, hear from the experts in this field:

Alison Rickett from 3Keel and formerly Fresh Start Land Enterprise will get us to scrutinise our own motivations, assets and requirements and help us look at our relationship with risk to help us understand what kind of match might be right for us. Participants will get access to the Business Models to Unlock Future Farming Potential handbook as a guide to help you beyond this course.

Tom Cackett from Savills specialises in providing food and farming advice to the agricultural sector throughout the South of England. He will be looking at the legal risks and tax implications of various business entities that can be used to form land-partnership agreements. He has particular expertise in organic farming, regenerative farming, environmental stewardship, re-wilding, direct retailing and deer farming. Tom is dual qualified and therefore able to provide both farming and estate management advice.

Joint ventures can be really benefitial for both parties, at FarmED we benefit from the diversity that it brings to the farm and the produce that we can use in our Cafe, whislt they benefit from having access to land to run their business from and shared resources like machinery and buildings.

You will leave with tools and knowledge to help find the right match of people and business models. There will also be time for networking over coffee and lunch from the FarmED kitchen (all included in the ticket price).

This event is ideal for farmers and landowners seeking new people and enterprises, as well as new entrants looking for an opportunity. Advisors and facilitators would find this event useful too.
