About the Event

Overview

We need great people to lead us towards a sustainable future. Whether you are a champion in your local community, a pioneering farmer, an eco-entrepreneur building a team or a purpose driven manager within an NGO or corporate organisation, this one-day introductory course on leadership is for you.

Leadership is much more than just about telling people what to do - it’s about influencing, persuading and engaging others. John Knight, specialises in transpersonal leadership with a focus on feelings, emotions and values which requires self awareness and will make you a better customer and parent as well as employer.

John’s introductory course at FarmED will include deep dives into how to develop new styles of leadership and decision making.

‘We are taught that decision making should be rational,’ says John. ‘But intuition, insight, instinct and ethical philosophy all have an important impact and if we are aware of these different processes we will make better decisions.’

During this course we will explore key leadership and regenerative concepts allowing time for participants to explore their own development challenges and opportunities. Specifically you will leave with a better understanding of:

  1. What leadership is and how it differs from management
  2. How to manage one’s own emotions more effectively - an important key to high performance
  3. Your own leadership style preferences and why you might need to develop other styles
  4. How to bring your values to full consciousness in all that you do
  5. How to lead beyond your ego
  6. How to work successfully with other stakeholders for sustainable and regenerative outcomes
  7. Your personal touchstones and values, and how these can help make better decisions

The FarmED team and a guest speaker from the regenerative farming, food and environmental sector will support course delivery.  We are honoured to be joined by Farmer Sangay from Bhutan who is leading transformational change in agriculture.

The event will run from 9.30 to 5.00 on the day.  You can view a more detailed agenda here.

Joining instructions and some pre-reading will be provided to all participants.

Course Leader

This course will be led by John Knights, Chairman of LeaderShape Global. John is an engineer turned businessman who followed an international corporate career being appointed first a Corporate VP of a Fortune 100 company and then a main board director of a FTSE100 firm before he was 40. His next career was as an entrepreneur where he founded eight companies, primarily in environmental technology and IT.

In 1998, his life changed when he learned to coach and in working with other CEOs started to understand what was missing in both his own and others leadership capabilities. He has spent the last 20 years working with colleagues to develop a journey of development to become a Transpersonal Leader. This culminated in 2018 with the acclaimed and evidence-based text book “Leading Beyond the Ego” published by Routledge. A sequel, “Transpersonal Leadership in Action” was launched by the same publisher in February 2022.

John has coached many senior leaders globally from the private, public and NFP sectors and been involved in the design and delivery of state-of-the art leadership programmes using advanced andragogic methodologies. This includes the latest Open Global Program which is fully remote and online, mixing leaders from around the world.
